On Play and Grow’s research trip to Palestine we met with possible local teachers for Game Girl Workshop. We had no idea who we would meet, but we were pleasantly surprised when we met Rasha, a Palestinian super-geek. – We bonded right away.

Play & Grow went on a research trip to Palestine. Supported by Danish Action Aid we traveled to see if we could find partner organizations that could help us execute Game Girl Workshop in Palestine. In Anepta, about 3 hours out of Ramallah, we met with the target group in WASIL Youth Center. Steffi Degiorgio had invented a beautiful storytelling card game, Pecomi, that we played with the girls. The video below shows a few highlights from the afternoon.

Movie Night

In the game Movie Night – a girl is invited to the movie by a boy from school. She asks her dad for permission and tells him at the same time that she is not a little girl any longer. The dad asks if she has done all her duties – and in the game the player has to wash a plate and go through a labyrinth, before she is allowed to choose a set of clothes and go to the movies with the boy. The game is more like an interactive story than a game as the player can not fail. To play the game – click here.

Darbie Going Crazy

The story in the game Darbie Going Crazy is about a girl, who thinks that her friend is spending too much time on a Darbie doll. So the girl takes her friend’s doll and throws it out on a junk yard. In the game the doll Darbie has to find her way back home and try to avoid the scary dog. At the same time she has to pick up diamonds to get points. To play the game – click here.
